Sound Foundation is fully licensed and accredited by APRA and AMCOS to sell music legally online, If you are a band or musician and want to join our site, then we strongly recommend that you become a member of APRA and register all your tracks with them as well, below is some information on APRA what they do.

Representing Music Creators

APRA's membership covers the vast majority of the world’s composers, writers and publishers. We have more than 38,000 Australasian members and, through arrangements with similar organisations overseas, we also represent over 2 million creators and publishers from across the globe. For more information about how we represent creators.

Copyright and APRA | AMCOS

APRA administers the public performance and communication rights in the musical works we represent.

Licensing Music Users

Our clients include venues that play music, television and radio stations, and increasingly businesses that use music online. Because it would be impractical for these clients to obtain permission from the owner of copyright in each musical work they use, they enter an agreement with APRA | AMCOS.

APRA monitors their performance and communication of music, collects a royalty and distributes this payment to the copyright owners. This provides a simple means of complying with copyright law. It also ensures payment to the copyright owners whose music is performed or communicated in public.

Corporate APRA | AMCOS

Since 1997, APRA | AMCOS has also managed the reproduction rights business of the Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners’ Society (AMCOS). AMCOS represents virtually all music publishers in Australia and New Zealand and, through reciprocal arrangements, the vast majority of the world’s composers, writers and music publishers.

h2Distributing Royalties

ince we were established in 1926, the APRA | AMCOS integrated business has grown to now collect more than $146 million annually and to distribute more than $127 million a year. For more information.

As we continue to grow, our aims remain the same: to provide reasonable and accessible licences for the use of music, and to distribute the royalties to which copyright owners are entitled as efficiently and quickly as possible.
