Pop-punk has a long tradition of comedy. Many revered bands have incorporated humour - and often toilet humour - into their songs. The Naked Apes continue that tradition with their debut album, The Teflon Man. The British trio, fronted by New Zealander Mikey McCleary, have already seen UK indie chart success with their first two singles, and it is not hard to see why. The Naked Apes specialise in upbeat, bouncy pop-punk tunes laced with consistently catchy melodies. Although not breaking any new musical ground, they have assembled a strong collection of well-written poppy guitar-driven songs on The Teflon Man with slightly lo-fi - but not distractingly so - production values.
